Youdao Batch Translate Stuck or Queued Forever — How to Fix

Multi-file jobs, endless queues, frozen progress, or mixed success/failure — split the task queue and total size. Don’t fold this into a single-document “won’t open” data wipe.

When Youdao batch translate is stuck or the batch queue sits forever, check whether the task list already holds stacked pending/half-finished jobs, how the batch’s total size compares with a single file that works, whether weak links or background kill interrupted uploads, and whether failures should be retried one-by-one after a split. One file won’t open, blank export, smashed tables → document translate failed; this page covers multi-file stalls, frozen progress, partial success, and “solo works / batch fails.” Treat the download page and client UI as source of truth; do not invent official batch-limit numbers or unpublished queue policies.

Someone dropped a dozen contracts in at once; the bar sat on Queued for half an hour. The same set finished when submitted two at a time. Another machine translated a 3 MB PDF instantly, then greyscaled ten uploads together — clearing the failed queue, disabling the proxy, and resubmitting small batches restored it. A third batch finished three files and timed out on two; a blind “retry all” scrambled the success records and forced a scavenger hunt in the export folder.

This page covers “you already know document/batch upload, but the queue side fails.” It does not redo single-file encryption, scan PDFs, or layout basics — those live on the document-failure post and guides.

Keep trails separate: One PDF/Word won’t open, times out, blanks, or breaks tables → document translate failed. Multi-select, long task-list queues, whole-batch frozen progress, mixed success/failure → stay here. Modules wrong after a half-finished upgrade → update failed. Still learning upload steps → document translation guide.

Split single-file failure from a stuck batch queue

Queries like “Youdao batch stuck” and “multi-file won’t move” collide with “PDF won’t translate.” Single-file failure: even one upload blanks or times out — use the document article for encryption, scans, page count, and network. Batch-queue problem: solos (or at least a small sample) usually work; multi-select/queue freezes, the whole batch greys out, or items stay Waiting forever.

Before changing settings, note whether nothing in the batch moves or only some items hang; whether a solo re-upload succeeds; and whether the timeline ties to an update, a proxy flip, or a force-quit. Those three decide queue splitting versus another article.

Skim the FAQ for install/account notes. Don’t fold queue pile-ups, bad single files, and whole-app crashes into one Clear all data.

Long queues and frozen progress: still running, or dead

“Queued” is not always a bug: unfinished earlier jobs delay new batches. Open the task/history list for older Processing items, uncleared failures, or downloads never finished. Clear clearly failed or stale rows, then watch whether the new job starts advancing.

When the bar freezes, check three things: whether network activity still ticks, whether the phone/PC entered aggressive sleep, and whether the same account is blasting another large batch elsewhere. Weak links often freeze large uploads at a percentage — stable Wi‑Fi or disabling VPN for one wait cycle beats spam-retry.

OS kill, lock-screen disconnects, or desktop sleep leave the UI saying Queued while the server side already aborted. Cold-start Youdao and refresh the list: still Processing → wait; Failed → delete and resubmit a smaller batch. Don’t assume another hour of waiting heals a dead job.

Multi-file jobs: size, formats, and “solo works / batch fails”

When a single file works but the batch doesn’t, the usual cause is combined size or concurrent pending count crushing upload/processing — not every file suddenly corrupting. Controlled test: same network, one known-good sample, then add one–two files at a time until you see where it stalls. Cap batch size there instead of gambling the whole folder.

Mixing encrypted packs, corrupt archives, or huge scan PDFs into one wave can stall the line. Confirm each file opens locally and has selectable text before upload; pull suspects out and test alone. Blank scan PDFs still belong on document translate failed — this page only warns: don’t bind bad files to healthy ones in the same wave.

Mixed types (PDF + Word + image packs): batch by type. One type fails alone → that type’s single-document trail. Every type works alone but multi-select fails → cut concurrency and batch count. This site does not hard-code “official max N files” — trust whatever your client prompts when uploading.

Partial success: retry without losing finished work

When some items succeed and others fail, export or confirm the successes on disk first, then re-upload only failures. “Retry all” can overwrite finished records, double-consume quotas, or re-occupy the queue.

A failure that still times out or blanks solo → treat the file itself (encryption, scans, huge page count) via the document article and document translation guide. Failures that succeed after a split → earlier congestion or weak uplink; keep batches small.

Leave a short gap between retries so a half-finished upload isn’t still holding the pipe. On desktop, AV or sync clients locking files can look like “batch broken” when the real issue is file-in-use.

Network, account, and client state

Short text translate works but batch upload fails → suspect the large-file path: proxy, HTTPS inspection, corp firewall, flaky hotspot. Disable proxy and retest a small batch; a working text box does not prove the big-upload channel is healthy.

If the UI shows quota or page-limit notices, follow those. Don’t guess remaining capacity from third-party posts. Near-limit accounts can also show mixed success — check visible usage in-account before shrinking batches further.

Two devices on the same account uploading hard at once race task state. During heavy batches, pick one machine to upload and another only to fetch results. Unsure which install you’re on → confirm the platform entry on the download page.

After updates — and when to leave this page

Interrupted major upgrades can scramble the task-list state machine, grey out batch entry, or leave queues that never start. When the timeline is “just updated,” run update failed first: confirm version, back up unsynced content before a clean reinstall, then prove batch with two small samples. Don’t start with Clear all data.

One file, unrelated to queues → document translate failed. Text returned but tofu boxes / mojibake → garbled / missing glyphs. Document module flash-quits → crash / won’t open. PDF how-to: PDF translation guide.

Useful habits: clear failed queue rows before a new wave; discover a working batch size on the current network; protect successes before retrying failures; ignore unverified “official cap” numbers. More notes: FAQ and Guides.

FAQ

One file works, but a multi-file queue freezes — is every file corrupt?
Usually no. A successful single file means format and account path are roughly fine. For a stuck batch, check total upload size, how many jobs sit pending, weak network, and whether the OS killed the app in the background. Split to one–two files: if those finish and the full folder does not, it’s queue/volume pressure — not a suddenly dead engine.
Progress bar frozen for a long time — keep tapping Retry?
First see whether the task list still shows Processing, whether the link is flapping, and whether sleep/doze killed the client. Spamming Retry on the same batch often stacks more half-finished jobs. Wait until the current job ends or clearly fails, then remove failed items and resubmit a proven small batch.
Some files in a batch succeed, others fail — what next?
Export or save the successes first, then re-upload only the failures. Don’t wipe the whole batch and redo everything if that would overwrite finished exports. If a failure still times out or opens blank on its own, treat it as a single-document case (encryption, scans, layout). When solos succeed after a split, the earlier problem was the queue.
What is the “official batch limit” on this site?
This site does not invent official batch-limit numbers or unpublished queue policies. Trust the task list, upload prompts, and any account notices visible in your client. If the UI never states a hard number, discover a working batch size with small controlled tests — not third-party “rumored caps.”

Need to confirm the client build?

If the batch entry broke right after an updater, or an old build scrambles task-list states, check the current platform entry on the download page before overwrite-installing.
